I recently had a spearfishing trip down to the Jumento Cays and Ragged Islands. For those of you who are not familiar with this area there is a reason, it is one of the most remote areas in the Bahamas. A chain of islands that begins near the southern tip of Long Island and extends south to Ragged Island which lies less than 70 miles from Cuba.

After we got our limit of lobsters, we decided to go back out and see if we could hand-line a few hogfish while freediving. Figured it would be funny video. None of the larger fish took the bait, but we did manage to catch half a dozen hogfish, and a couple of them were keepers.

I have to admit, even though most of these fish were too small to keep, it was still a lot of fun to interact with them. Maybe next time we will rig up with some heavier tackle and go after some real fish.
