learn Blue Water Spearfishing in the land of the wahoo

For the past few years, Palapas Ventana has been offering a spearfishing course appropriately named "Blue Water University". This course has been put together to offer experienced reef and inshore spearfishermen a chance to head out into the blue in search of wahoo, mahi mahi, tuna, sailfish, and more. The enticing aspect of this particular course is that not only are there experienced guides and captains at your disposal, but there is also the option of renting blue water spearguns and equipment from the proshop. So you don't need to dish out thousands of dollars on gear just to try some palagic action.

Last year I was lucky enough to get invited to teach the course and it was an incredible week. Not a day went by that we didn't see wahoo. Our daily wahoo sightings bounced between 12 and 50 per day. and even though all the guys(and girl!) were beginners, they all got shots on wahoo. We landed a few, we lost a few more. There were also plenty of Mahi Mahi around as well.

It looks like I will be going back this year to do it all again and I am super excited. I am also going to have a ton of new polespear and sling equipment with me for people to try out as well.
